TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) paid a visit to the former Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok at the Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) detention center on Tuesday morning, October 17.
Agus Harimurti posted a photo on Instagram of him holding a letter signed by Ahok. “[Ahok] greatly accepted my visit. We had a conversation about life in general and prayed for each other’s future,” he captioned.
Furthermore, in the caption, AHY hopes that he and Ahok could become better individuals that are useful for the society. The son of the Indonesia’s sixth president was once a direct rival against Ahok and Anies Baswedan during the 2017 Jakarta Gubernatorial Election.
Ahok also sent his best regards for AHY’s father Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and mother Ani Yudhoyono.
Through his Instagram post, Agus hoped that society could eventually benevolently appreciate the work and service of former leaders, while at the same time giving the newly elected leader a chance to continue the positive work of former leaders and fix the bad ones.
Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono ended his Instagram post on a high-note stating; “Let us all unite to build the country,” said AHY.
